Thanks to the generous support of all the CFC donors, Water.org continues to empower families around the world with access to safe water and sanitation. Your donations created a ripple effect of problems turned into possibility – unleashing opportunities for women to generate income, children to go to school, and families to live healthy lives.

Over the past year, Water.org utilized philanthropic donations from donors like you to support locally implemented programs in 11 countries around the world. Together with our partners, we have now reached more than 38 million people to date with access to safe water and sanitation. Because of you, they have greater resilience to the COVID-19 pandemic and other diseases. They are now better prepared to safeguard their families because they can wash their hands and don't have to leave their homes to collect water.

The generous gifts from CFC donors helped change the lives of people around the world with lasting access to safe water and sanitation – people like Leah.

Leah lives in a rural village about an hour from Nairobi, Kenya. She shares her property with her son, her daughter-in-law, and her sister, and together they all work hard raising chickens and cows to sell. To keep their small farm and family healthy, Leah used to pay a lot to purchase water. The water she bought was delivered by truck and pumped into storage containers on her property. This was expensive and cut into the family’s profits from their livestock sales, leaving little money for anything else.

Leah and her son knew there had to be a more affordable way to access water so their family and their farm would not just survive but thrive. When introduced to the idea of financing a rain storage tank and water connection, the two pursued the opportunity with their bank, a local partner of Water.org.

With a small, affordable loan, Leah purchased three rain storage tanks and now has access to safe water on her property to cook, clean, feed their livestock, and water their garden. These storage tanks hold enough water that even after the rainy seasons end, there is enough water to sustain the family.
