BVFRD Adds new ambulance based on CFC and community support

A non-profit corporation providing Fire, Emergency Medical and Rescue services to the citizens of Burke and Fairfax County.

Dear Friends,
Fall greetings from the members of the Burke Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department! Kids are back at school and organizations are in various states of returning back to the office. We hope however this letter finds you that you and your family are staying safe and well.
Our big news is that, thanks to your support, we have a new ambulance on the way! Our new Road Rescue unit (on a Ford F-550 chassis) will replace our two oldest units that have
served the community nearly all this millennium and are ready for retirement. For those of you who involved in the naming contest for the new ambulance, our members chose the name “Spirit of Burke.” After the ambulance is delivered this fall, we will install a commemorative plaque to the vehicle.

Fall is traditionally a busy time around the station with events, and we continue to be flexible with the emerging pandemic situation. Please take note of the following events and schedule changes:
• BVFRD continues to partner with INOVA Blood Services for blood drives at the station. You can help with low blood supply by joining us at any of our future hosted blood drives (one each month through December)
Please follow us online at Facebook/BVFRD for registration links to sign up and make your
appointment.
• Please note that this year’s Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 3-9, 2021, is virtual once again. You can find out more about this year’s theme, “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety,” by following us on Facebook. We look forward to sharing our facilities with the public at Open House next year.
