CRAB Goes Sailing
Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating, aka CRAB, has been getting people from all walks of life into their fleet of boats for almost three decades in and around Annapolis, MD. We tell a lot of people about it, because we have a lot of friends that are autistic, like our son. It makes their day; it makes them happy. Other adaptive sports as a quadriplegic, I need more hands on my body to help me. But with sailing, I get to be in control. I wasn’t even thinking about disability. Having something to do like this makes the next challenge that much easier. When I started getting into the sailing, I started finding camaraderie. It didn’t matter if I didn’t’ really know the person, we just clicked. Taking us back to police work, to family, to whatever, we really do need one another. We need to work together to accomplish the mission. CRAB, dedicated to making the thrill and freedom of sailing a reality for all.
