You're hired, Oscar!

Oscar beams at his new job

When Oscar was told he had the job after his interview, he jumped up and down with excitement. Typically, for individuals with employment barriers, especially those with disabilities, the unemployment rate is high compared to the general population. Therefore, at a time when the unemployment rate has increased and many individuals are seeking employment, it is a huge accomplishment to obtain jobs for individuals with disabilities. The Volunteers of America Texas Vocational Opportunity & Training Services (VOTS) Program is all about helping individuals with disabilities gain their independence by finding employment. The program, which is funded by the Texas Workforce Commission, offers continued support through job coaching to help each of them learn and maintain their jobs. In addition, they will be working to help them stay safe by offering training to make sure they all follow the Centers for Disease Control guidelines while working.
