Thank you, Federal employees! You made so many children’s lives better including Che’s! Your contributions have been a lifeline for COV and we thank you.

A young woman, Che, sits at her study desk as her father, a single parent, lovingly brushes her long, ebony hair. He expertly ties it into a ponytail, so it doesn’t fall across her eyes as she studies. Despite her disabilities related to dwarfism, Che studies a lot!
For 12 years of public school, she thrived on achieving high results on her assignments. Her hard work recently paid off with her acceptance to Da Nang University of Economics. Che’s father smiled through tears when they received the news of her entrance exam scores.
Che lives by the mantra, "Never say the words if only." She tries her best at everything she tackles. As a participant in Hope System of Care (HSC), part of our Increasing Opportunities for Children with Disabilities Initiative, she learned valuable skills and participated in life-changing therapies from 2018-2020. The physical and occupational training she received complimented her work ethic. Now Che helps care for herself and the household. She washes her clothes, cooks meals for her family, and helps care for the family’s chickens.
HSC improved her self-esteem too. Before her participation in the program, she feared using a kitchen knife since she cut herself once. Now she proudly peels squash and gourds safely.
Staff recognized her intelligence and hard work and once she graduated from HSC, she became a Bright Scholar as part of our Educating for the Future Initiative! Without her scholarship, her father could not afford to enroll her at university. Che plans to continue studying hard and achieve her dream to find a good paying job.
