Sydney's Journey to Homeless Recovery

Story of Homeless Recovery

Everything is in perfect order in Sydney Chock’s living room, just as you would expect from a former Green Beret. But what you’d never know is that Sydney is partially paralyzed and recently experienced homelessness. After 29 years in the U.S. Army Special Forces and a career in information technology development and management, Sydney became seriously ill and had to be hospitalized. He quickly depleted his savings account and ended up at The Bridge, where he had a stroke during his stay that left him paralyzed on most of the right side of his body. Sydney now lives independently in affordable housing and enjoys sharing memories from his days in the military. He served tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq and proudly wears his dog tags around his neck.
