Strength Through Prayer

Mr. Darrell Greenridge, Food Recipient

After reaching out to several social service agencies and food pantries in PG County, Darrell was ready to throw in the towel. Almost no food and few resources motivated him to keep calling the numbers he had found online when he searched for help with food. 2020 had been a hard year. His long-term job was terminated and he was faced with deciding whether to pay his mortgage or eat. "I suffer from macular degeneration and lost my job due to COVID 19. I've also been fighting depression as I recently lost five family members. I could use some help and some prayer."

"I heard Mr. Greenridge's message on our primary phone line and my heart dropped, " said Deb Hopkins, CM Director of Communications. "I felt we had to find a way to support
Mr. Greenridge, and not just by providing food."

Celestial Manna's volunteers truly have servant's hearts and that would soon be demonstrated. During the weekly team meeting, the Leadership Team conferenced Mr. Greenridge on a prayer call, and Marijune Casey, Regional Operations Manager, personally delivered boxes of groceries to his home. Watch a short video clip from Mr. Greenridge here.

As a faith-based organization, we have many strong prayer leaders, so offering prayer services was an easy transition. Pastor Mike A. Wilson now leads a Prayer Outreach Team to pray for anyone who requests it. The need for prayer is great, especially during these unprecedented times. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please email the support desk.
