Repairing Homes and Hope

For so many Texans, home is not safe due to leaks, electrical problems, lack of working plumbing, and structural damage. Before Habitat for Humanity arrived, Lorine’s home was dangerous. Water leaks had rotted the floor in the bathroom and extension cords crossed rooms to bring heat and light.

Habitat remodeled Lorine’s bathroom and upgraded the electrical system, adding new lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, and smoke detectors. Lorine’s home is now her sanctuary. Her family can rest assured her home is safe once again.

“Habitat for Humanity Texas has provided a confident, quick, innovative response in this crisis. Their leadership means I can focus on helping East Texans who are elderly, disabled or military veterans live in safe homes when home is the safest place to be,” shared LaJuan Gordon, Chief Executive Officer, local Habitat for Humanity.

Without Habitat Texas’s training and resources, local Habitat organizations could not continue home repairs for people like Lorine. Therefore, the crucial knowledge and resources that Habitat for Humanity Texas provides statewide are more important than ever. Thank you, generous CFC supporters, because of you we were able to continue to support local affiliates and Texans during COVID-19, rising lumber costs, and Winter Storm Uri.
