Helping our military spouses

Thanking our military family members by assisting them in achieving their educational dreams

Samantha

Samantha was an Army spouse and an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas in Denton when she applied for a college scholarship from the Army Scholarship Foundation. Her soldier husband was a Private First Class stationed at Fort Sill, OK, while she was residing in Fort Worth with her two children under the age of 10. Her husband’s duty station was four hours away, and he was only able to come home on occasional weekends. Samantha was attending school full time and working full time as well as managing her family while her soldier husband was away. With the help of scholarships from the Army Scholarship Foundation, Samantha was able to graduate while managing her family, her full time studies and her full time job. During her senior year in college, Samantha spoke to tell her story at an Army Scholarship Foundation Luncheon. A high level executive with a large defense contractor was in attendance and was so impressed with Samantha’s poise and ability to manage a family, a job and her full time studies, all while her soldier husband was away, that he offered her a job. Upon graduation, Samantha went to work with the company and has since earned an MBA and been promoted twice. She is but one example of the 90+% of our Army Scholarship Foundation military family member scholarship recipients who go on to graduate and build a strong future with the help of an Army Scholarship Foundation award.
