Developing Future Leaders

Travis Manion Foundation's Staff and Veteran Mentors

In an effort to prepare students for the 2021-2022 school year, Travis Manion Foundation’s incredible Veteran Mentors held Back to School Character Day events including character development, group activities and outreach for youth nationwide. The kick-off of this new initiative took place in 31 cities across the nation, beginning in August 2021. During these events, teams of Veteran Mentors provided backpacks filled with supplies to over 2,700 students and led youth in interactive character and leadership development lessons, games and activities, surpassing TMF’s original impact goals. With supplies and fees averaging nearly $1,300 per student every year, the Back-to-School Character Day events played a key role in bridging a critical economic divide faced by many families, especially in the wake of COVID-19.
“This past year and a half has had a significant impact on children everywhere,” said Nancy, a Girl Scout Troop leader whose girls participated in the Back-to-School Character Day events. “Having TMF lead a workshop with character education and help equip our [youth] for the new school year reminds them of how strong they are and that they can rise above obstacles and start back strong, confident, and full of zest and hope.” When you participate in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and donate to Travis Manion Foundation, you directly support the character development of our nation’s future leaders. TMF’s CFC code is 15968. Thank you!
