Black Girls RUN? Yes, we do!

There is a huge misconception that black women do not run. In an effort to dispel this myth and tackle the growing obesity epidemic in the African American community, Black Girls RUN! Foundation was created as the philanthropic arm to the national organization (Black Girls RUN!) to support our local community footprint, training programs, funding, and resources. Since our founding in 2018, the Black Girls RUN! Foundation has been helping women get healthier through the sport of running. We provide training programs, nutritious snacks, clothing and shoe stipends, race registration scholarships and professional development opportunities for our volunteers. We provide resources that equip and empower women across the country to start on the right path to become the best version of themselves and adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

Earlier this year, the Black Girls RUN! Foundation launched BGR! U (Black Girls RUN! University) which is an inclusive 10-week training program for women of all fitness levels. The training program helps women achieve their running goals, from completing their first 5K to training for a marathon. BGR! U has top-notch coaches who will bring motivation, nutrition guidance, and the gear they need to help achieve their running goals. The training program hosts weekly masterclasses to educate its participants on various topics fitness, nutrition, health, goal setting, and more.

BGR! U is about to graduate its 2nd cohort of participants, and the testimonials have been incredible.

“I am getting stronger everyday thanks to the encouragement and education provided by BGR! University.” – Angela Haynes, Illinois

“BGR! University has inspired me to recommit to running to improve my overall health and physical fitness.” – Carla Pierson-Hart, Texas
