2021 Big Sister of the Year!

The Big Sister of the Year award for 2021 goes to a Big that not only goes above and beyond for her Little Sister, but also supports her Little Sister’s entire family. During the start of the pandemic, Big Sister Stefania Xytakis would drive for about 45 minutes one way from UpCountry Maui to the BBBS office, to pick up a food box and drop it off to her Little Sister’s home, which is another 45 minute drive back. She continued to do this on a weekly basis. Big Sister Stephanie felt the pandemic brought her and her Little Sister Chaylon closer together because they were able to enjoy activities they may have overlooked pre-pandemic. The match was able to spend more time at the beach, in Chaylon’s backyard creating a treasure hunt, hosting a spa day from home, and pushing their creativity limits to come up with new and exciting activities. Big Sister Stephanie continues to teach her Little Sister Chaylon about self-confidence, self-determination, and that she truly has the potential to gain everything she wants in life.
