What is the charitable cause you are most passionate about and why?

This year I have selected:
The Hispanic Association for Colleges and Universities (HACU [Charity #10477]) and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF [Charity #11502]).
I have been a mentor for disadvantaged students since 1996, while supporting organizations that help them access educational opportunities. Through mentoring, I have been a firsthand witness of the positive changes in all these students’ lives. For example, some of the students I mentored from vulnerable communities have completed a graduate level education and/or are pursuing a graduate degree in a STEM educational program. In 2009 I led the Hispanic Association for Colleges and Universities (HACU) at FDA New England District and two talented students were supported through a HACU summer internship. Supporting and mentoring underrepresented students in a STEM disciplines is more than a simple commitment; It is my passion.

Why do you give through the CFC?

My contributions are sent safe, while giving back to vulnerable communities facing gaps within their educational systems.

How do contributions through the CFC help your cause?

Supporting underrepresented students advancing in their education through scholarships and/or programs (e.g. travel grants, housing, stipend).
